Skate Guide

How to Choose Skateboard Sizes

Mini: - For children between the age of 5 and 10. Mini sized skateboards should be assembled with mini sized trucks like Grindking Minis.

7.5" - This size is good for children looking to ride a bigger board. It is also good for skaters who like to do a lot of technical skating like manuals, flip tricks onto ledges etc. Skater height range: 5 feet to 5 feet 4 inches tall (this is not a rule).

7.75" - This is the most common sized skateboard deck. If you don't know what to get, start here. Skater height range: 5 feet 5 inches tall to 6 ft (this is not a rule).

8.0" - This size is good for stability. There is a lot more foot room here. These boards are good for: handrails, slow stylish flip tricks down stairs and over gaps, mini-ramp, and sometimes even pool skating. Skater height range: 6ft plus (this is not a rule).

8.0" plus - Any skateboard over 8 inches wide is usually meant for vert, bowl, park or pool riding. These boards are bigger and heavier. However, they are much more stable.

Below is a chart that compares a skater's age and height to board size:
